Formaldehyde Emission Standards Explained for Importers
E0, E1, CARB Phase 2 and EPA TSCA Title VI are not interchangeable. A short guide to which document your customs broker will ask for.
European buyers usually ask for an EN 13986 declaration of performance together with an emission class statement. North American buyers ask for CARB Phase 2 or EPA TSCA Title VI compliance, which is a separate testing regime with its own mill test certificate. The practical point is that a single test report rarely satisfies both markets. If you ship the same panel family to two regions, request both documents at order time rather than after the container has sailed. We issue emission documentation per production lot, so the certificate you receive matches the batch in your container.
